My brother Jean-Marc who writes for a french daily La Depeche du Midi was in the States last August and told me about this provocative documentary named ‘Mondovino’ (or the world of wine).
He saw it at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 and recommended that I see it.
The film explores the world and business of wine on 3 continents and tells us of the conflict between small producers and terroir versus large wine companies and the sometime mass production of wine as another product.
Jonathan Nossiter, the director, plans to use the rest of the material collected for a 10 segment-1 hour miniserie.
In the Tri-State area the movie is currently playing at Film Forum in NEW YORK.
