In his ‘Slow Lane’ column, last Saturday in the Financial Times, Harry Eyres asks "Is thinking the enemy of breathing?" . I can understand his struggle with yoga as I am not very agile, more stiff I should say. What got my attention in his article is the idea in some yoga circles that one nostril is always more active than the other and that the type of activity you are engaged in commands what side of your nose is more at work. This is where the ‘ whole new nose’ idea came to me, reminiscing on the themes of ‘A whole new mind’ by Dan Pink of using all your talents. Our busyness prevents us from slowing down and taking the time to breathe. I do exhale when feeling under stress so I am not a completely lost cause.
