Too bad I got my invitation for the grand pre-opening cocktail party at the Zipper Factory only yesterday. It takes place tomorrow and my schedule is too crowded this week for any short notice evening plans.
This is a new venture of Chef Larry Kolar, a veteran of the New York food scene.
He calls his eaterie a Theater Tavern since it is in the Broadway Area and will serve unpretentious yet solid food.
For this new restaurant he did not have to move across town but just a few steps away from his previous baby, Camino Sur.
The place used to be an actual zipper factory.
Sometimes the name for your project is handed to you on a plate.
As for the food, he will cure and smoke his own charcuterie and make sauerkraut and sausage.
Sounds like it could a Brasserie Alsacienne if it was located in Paris rather than New York City.
The bars (three of them) will be offering of course beer to wash down this fare.
He is not superstitious, opening Friday the 13.
I guess I will have to get my own personal tour at a later date.
I will then share my first impressions with you.
Bonne Chance Larry! A Bientot
