E-mail spam is not 75 years old but it does pollute our inbox.
When a message from M80im.com announcing that Yahoo! wants to be a better planet arrived today, I checked the links to make sure they were kosher. They were legit and part of a marketing effort.
As the Green Buzz keeps building, Yahoo! is launching 2 sites today.
One is Yahoo! Green whose goal is to help reduce global warming one light bulb at a time and maybe also help sell more of these energy efficient products. Ford seems to be a sponsor.
The other site is Yahoo! Be a Better Planet. Like on American Idol you can vote to help your favorite win.
In this case you can help your town win the title for no less than America’s most eco-friendly city.
Register your vote on the site to Prove it (as Tom Verlaine said) and earn free compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL in technical babble). If your town wins the grand wazoo, they get a fleet of hybrid taxis.
In case you wondered I was not paid for this.
M80 and Yahoo! requested coverage from me based on previous Green Monster stories I wrote.
Since it is for a good cause, I was happy to oblige.
Yahoo might even make some Green out of it.
