Not wanting to be too euro-centric, I went digging for different fare and realized that this week (on Thursday) Mexico City celebrates The Day of the Mules.
The event starts in Zocalo square (officially known as Plaza de la Constitucion) with a procession after church.
Children wear traditional costumes and sell handmade wooden mules.
To give us a sense of perspective, this holiday goes back almost 5 centuries.
I gathered most of these details thanks to the very detailed Events Pages of British Airways.
The US has Mule Day. The most popular happening takes place in Columbia, Tennessee around April 15.
