This piece is not related to John Lennon’s Power to the People song, at least not directly.
It tells the story of William Kamkwamba, a secondary school student in Malawi who came up with the idea of building a windmill (pictured here) with whatever material he could put is hands on and trying to keep the thing running and improving it.
In doing so he brought Power to the People, electric power that is.
It goes to show how simple ideas and some determination can go a long way.
Something we take for granted as we do with the Web, Water, Gas, Heat, Food and the rest.

Malawi is a a landlocked country located in Southeast Africa between Zambia and Mozambique and offers many treats to travelers looking for new vistas.
