Some people take it a step further, green minded Freegans rescue all they can from the garbage bins of food stores.
In the August edition of Observer Food Monthly, Alex Renton tells us about his expedition with a bunch of them in No Such Thing as a Free Lunch.
His wife Ruth questioned the health aspect of such ‘shopping’ : "I don’t mean that it’s stolen. I mean that you’re asking five adults and four small children to lunch and you’re going to feed them food out of a rubbish bin. And you haven’t even told them."
