Hey! a lot of these girls and guys from this era’s bands are now over 50 (those who made it) as are many of the people who experienced that period in time.
I thought first of this anniversary while reading Net, Blogs and Rock’n’ Roll by David Jennings (book will be in bookstores tomorrow, October 3rd).
Then I heard this morning that Soundcheck (on WNYC FM) has a Punk Turns 30 program today.
Spin Magazine offers a should I say bleak or honest look back on these days (in New York City) in Eat to the Beat by none other than Anthony Bourdain in a special issue.
Teresa K offers her take (and historic photos for sale) on Punk Turns 30 (the Blog).
As for Punk Trivia, I was just kidding in my headline but as I found
out Amy Wallace co-wrote with Dick Manitoba (The Dictators), ‘The
Official Punk Rock Book of Lists‘ (cover shown here).
Read the October 2nd short review, Slice of Punk, Please on BlackBook.
The book is even on sale at Walmart.com of all places.
So are Trivia questions on The Clash and others coming to ‘The Wheel of Fortune‘ soon?
Time will tell.
Fits right there with our Just Over 50 and Not Dead Yet theme.
