Even though I have a number of favorite wines, I get bored if I do not refresh my list.
I was looking for a simple easy to drink red last week and found just that with the Vina Herminia Tempranillo (2006) from Rioja.
All it is is a great table wine, I would not say ‘jammy’ since that term is overused but full of fruit and on the light to medium side. At around $10 a great everyday wine.
Does Australian winemaker David Morrison have a hand in it, I am not sure.
I enjoyed sipping a glass of the Vina Herminia with a little sopresatta and to keep it Spanish, a nice piece of Tetilla.
According to Wikipedia (I quote), "the name tetilla (Spanish for small breast) describes the shape of the cheese, a sort of cone topped by a nipple, or a half pear (hence its other denomination, perilla cheese or queso de perilla)".
See what Practically Edible has to say or Cheese from Spain (whose illustration I borrowed) for a very detailed fact sheet and history of this Galician cow cheese delight.
Sante and Bon Appetit!
