Like many culinary terms Tapas has become overused.
From a Spanish specialty, it now encompasses any foods served in small portions.
I have not seen Breton Tapas yet but it must only be a matter of time.
Reading True Fusion Dining — Indian Tapas in London by Pam Kent (Globespotters) invited me to dig deeper into the topic and find out where besides London these were served.
In Chicago, Vermilion describes itself as the melding of contemporary Indian and Latin American cuisine.
They offer Latin-Indian Tapas both cold such as Mint-ginger Tropical Ceviche bejeweled with passionfruit cumin piloncillo and hot (or should I say warm) like Platanos Machanos plantain croquette on a banana pachadi and Artichoke Pakoras on an eggplant chili coconut sauce to name a few.
On the Chowhound someone recommended Saravanaa Bhavan in Vancouver which offers South Indian cuisine.
In Somerville (Massachusetts), Diva Lounge offers a Menu of Indian Tapas to match its long list of specialty Martinis.
As for the London spots that Pam noted, Imli (in Soho) seems to be getting the most mentions with overall positive reviews on Tipped.
Worth noting, Imli also serve Indian Beers and natural fruit drinks (passion, mango and mint juice).
