We all know some ‘closet drinkers’ at work.
In some occasions drinking on the job is a legitimate activity even a sign of sophistication and taste.
A perfect example would be corporate and business wine tastings which can be an occasion to treat yourself to wonderful bottles and also a social event.
Some of these tastings bring together bankers and their clients, others will be limited to one team or one company.
Geeks and tech people are also known to pop a good bottle of wine or two to fuel the conversation and get noted for their great (or bad) taste.
In A glass half-full approach to team building, Rhymer Rigby (FT) looks at the corporate side and how ‘companies are hitting the bottle to strengthen relationships’.
He concludes his piece with a word of warning from David Cañadas of Les Caves de Pyrene (UK) who notes:
“We held one tasting where where one man went missing. After a while
people got worried, so they went looking for him. They eventually found
him asleep in the loos with his trousers round his ankles. Unfortunately, he was a team leader.”
