In a cosy private dining room downstairs at Bar Boulud a few steps from Lincoln Center, a dozen food and wine afficionados including yours truly were treated to a leisurely lunch in the gracious company of Adolfo Folonari, CEO of Ruffino who besides his long family tradition of wine making has a love of opera. Upon our arrival we were treated to a glasd of their Libaio Chardonnay (2007). For my meal I chose the Boeuf aux Carottes with Carrot Mousseline, Onion Confit and Sauce Bordelaise. On the sweet side, I had to go with the slice of Gateau Basque. Of the 5 red wines served, the Romitorio di Sandetame stood out as Mr.Personality. I realized I forgot how pleasant a slow lunch with good company and conversation could be.
