An exhibit in the medieval town of Gradara (Le Marche) brings together under one tent movie director Federico Fellini, painter Fernand Leger and the Circus.
Besides excerpts of Fellini movies chosen for their focus on women and the circus (photo below) the exhibit displays vintage toys from the 40's, 50's and 60's and photographs from Cedac (in Verona) which documents the history of the Italian circus.
The common thread is provided by "The circus" a series of color litographs from the 50's by Fernand Leger.
The show opened March 1st at 18th century Palazzo Rubini Vesin and runs until November 1st, 2009.
Ticket Price is 4,00 Euros per person.
The info I got on the event was in Italian which explains the paucity of details I am able to share yet I thought this 'Sulle Orme Del Circo' was worth mentioning.
I did learn from the official site of Gradara that "legend has it that the town's castle was the scene of the famous and tragic
love story of Paolo and Francesca, caught in each other's arms and
killed by Gianciotto, Francesca's husband. This love story was
immortalized by Dante in his Divine Comedy."
