I commended my 10 year old for making his own Mother's Day card rather than buying one.
Restaurants on Mother's Day can be like March Madness.
Would Mom be pleasantly surprised if instead of taking her to a crowded eaterie and spending a big chunk of cash you got the family team to work together and treat her to a garden tea party?
All it requires is time, some baking, mini sandwiches, tea and coffee.
To make it a bit more special, I would add to the mix less expensive bubbly like Cremant de Bourgogne, one of the wonderful Vin de Paille that I tasted at the Jura Wine tasting or some of the Moscatel I sampled at the Wines from Portugal event.
Not sure where to begin Elbows on the Table 'A Modern Mother's Day Tea Party' (Chow, May 2007) is a good place to start.
Happy Mother's Day!
