Blame Aurelia Filion of Oenopole in Montreal for bringing Patrice Breton and his Vice Versa wines to my attention.
This former serial tech entrepreneur started Vice Versa in 2001 and shows a taste for words, naming one of his creations Le Petit Vice (Small Vice) which touched a French cord.
Here's the winemaker notes for this Petit Vice 2005 (60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon):
"Le Petit Vice 2005 is one of our most exciting wines to date. The blend of 40% To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Oakville) and 60% Ulises Valdez Vineyard Syrah (Russian River Valley) is truly marvelous. This dark, polished wine boasts extremely seductive aromas of grilled meats, black forest cake, small red & black berries, ashes and spices. On the palate, Le Petit Vice 2005 shows excellent density, purity, delineation, tannic structure and balance. It will gain weight and complexity as it ages over the next 15+ years but absolutely gorgeous now."
And only 777 cases produced, I have not tasted it yet.
Around $50 a bottle.
