Going back over the tasting notes from the November 2008 'Sud de France' tasting. I realized that there was a Rosé wine I sipped and failed to mention.
It comes from an area dear to my heart, Cotes Catalanes.
This mouth filling Rosé, Domaine des Schistes, Le Bosc (I sampled the 2007) is 60% Syrah, 40% Macabeu.
Grapes grown on ferrous schiste soil (hence the name) come from a single vineyard with 30 year old vines.
Should retails in the $13-$14 range.
Suggested food pairings include sardines (grill them) or charcuterie.
Simple pleasures!
