The other day, I did not want Spanish, I wanted something new as in untried and untasted.
You don't see that many Cahors ('the original Malbec') on wine store shelves.
What was in front of me as part of the French contingent at a local store but Clos La Coutale (2007), Cahors.
I looked at the back label and noticed it was a Kermit Lynch selection and it was on sale (about $11) so I had to take the plunge and give it a try.
I could not couch it in better words than the back label sober introduction:
"Enjoy the generosity of 80% Malbec combined with the finesse and roundness of 20% Merlot".
Call this vintage of Clos La Coutale the softer side of Cahors as some of them can be robust to rough at least without food.
Fruit flavors, no pruneaux d' Agen to it but did I taste plums?
