I reconnected recently with Steve Farber which I came in touch with a few years back via his Radical Leap book.
I happened to do the same with Laura Berman Fortgang which I had not seen since right after September 11.
They might live on two different coasts, east for Laura, west for Steve yet there are points of connection.
Things might feel dreary at times yet should we let negative events swallow us.
Instead we can be inspired by events, ideas, people and in turn inspire others, share the lessons learned.
As Steve reminds us in his latest book Greater than Yourself (Doubleday, March 2009) "Have you heard of the Golden Rule–”Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you”? It’s a concept that can be found in almost every
religion, society and as a basic tenet of personal relationships around
the world. It’s timeless and universal. Yet, too often it’s checked at
the door Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm."
Rather than limit his reflections to the book, he opened the topic for all to read and contribute via the Greater than Yourself site and allow all of us willing to participate a chance to express what leadership is in its many forms as there is no cookie cutter expression for it.
There is also a companion Greater then Yourself group on LinkedIn.
As for Laura, her latest meditations on life can be found in The Little Book on Meaning and she is offering a Teleclass titled Doing Business Buddha's Way. First we have to accept that what got us into our current messes is not what will get us out of it.
Her aim with this class is to help us "recalibrate our ability to create our success despite how slow or fast the economy recovers."
Steve Farber online initiatives are Free, all he asks for is your time and effort.
Laura Berman Fortgang charges for her class.
Decide what you can afford, which writer rings your bell, read their stuff and learn all you can from it and leap forward even if only at a snail's pace.
Making things happen can be as much about getting the mental as well as the physical obstacles out of the way.
Life is an adventure!
