In almost 20 years in New Jersey, I don't remember ever tasting 1 wine produced in the state.
I feel a little guilty this week as Regional Wine Week (October 11-17) brought to us by Drink Local Wine is in full swing.
Wondering if there was any way I could make up for this callous disregard, I went fact checking.
Of the 30 something wineries in the Garden State, 3 of them are in Sussex County according to the Map (below) from the Garden State Wine Growers Association.
These would be the closest for me to visit.
They are Cava Winery in Hamburg (Number 8), Westfall Winery in Montague and my lucky card, Ventimiglia Vineyard which, I just found out, happens to be at my local farmers market on Saturday, October 17.
All I have left to do is give them a call and arrange a sipping and spitting session.
Happy Regional Wine Week!
