My first stop at the 2009 Edition of the NY Chocolate Show was with Revillon, a French Chocolatier based in Roanne.
The company might be in its second century but they are just getting their feet wet in the US with this Chocolate Show being their first one.
They are bringing to the American shores the romance of chocolate, passion and billets doux with their Papillotes which is a favorite gift around the holidays in France.
Papillotes creation is credited in company lore to a Monsieur Papillot who history says came up with the idea of a chocolate bonbon whose wrapping could give lovers a way to correspond without being caught.
Now each of the Papillote comes with a thought from a writer-philosopher.
In my first couple picks I noted Maupassant with the White Chocolate and Seneca with the Dark One.
Correct me if i am wrong but so far in America, the 2 options we will have are Pralissim (Milk and Dark Chocolate Pralines) and Voie Lactee ('Milky Way' in English, all Milk Chocolate).
They come in 14,82 Oz Bags (420g) each bag with 4 different choices so enough to put a smile on everyone's face at the office.
Fellow French Expat Estelle sang their praise in O, papillotes! (My French Cuisine, January 06).
Their glittering wrappers blinded my own shot so I borrowed Estelle's (above).
I wonder if the 'pensees' inside will be translated into English for those not fluent in French.
