I really stumbled upon this book while visiting Mollat.com the site of Bordeaux bookstore Mollat.
All about Femmes Fatales, Les femmes qui aiment sont dangereuses
('Women in Love are Dangerous') by Laure Adler and Elisa de Halleux (published by Flammarion) offers according to Mollat's notes (I quote) "a choice of paintings, drawings and photos from the Middle Ages to our time on the topic of the femmes fatales" or what they call fatal lovers (fatal attraction). The authors want to redress a bias, namely that mostly men covered this topic.
Mollat offers these words by Laure Adler suggesting that "a woman in love is worth 100. By her sexual power and the wisdom of her heart, she can, by giving herself to the one she chose, capture him with her desire, make him her equal or even her slave, Women desire has always been viewed as stronger, more mysterious than men desire under all latitudes"
Is it a book that women pick as a gift for their love interest or companion.
A different kind of coffee table book for the holidays.
Not sure is the book was translated in other languages.
In the meantime you can always listen enjoy the Velvet Underground & Nico in Femme Fatale, live (actually shot by Claude Ventura, of Pop 2 fame).
