I do know how to cook actually.
I even own a tattered copy of the French paperback edition of 'La Cuisine Pour Tous' (cooking for everyone) by Ginette Mathiot. I bought it some 20 years ago with a slightly different cover than the one below (same spirit).
Her bible, I Know How To Cook was a bestseller in France for 30 Years.
I guess back in the days, the book that caring mothers would give to future brides so they could keep their man happy.
The English world had to wait until 2009 to get its first taste (en Anglais) of what Ginette Mathiot had to offer, some 1500 recipes.
To celebrate this seminal moment for 'cuisine maison' on our American shores, Phaidon its publisher is having a book signing party not with Ginette (who passed away) but with Clotilde of Chocolate and Zucchini who translated this French classic into English.
When and where you might ask?
The book signing takes place on December 10 in the Phaidon Store located at 100 Wooster Street
(between Prince and Spring streets) in New York.
Kick off time is 6:30 Pm and it should run until 8 PM according to my sources.
