Since I failed to come up with a selection for A Bistro A Day on Wednesday, I woke up with pangs of guilt.
I did not want to do a repeat and actually found 'the dining room (la salle a manger) without much effort.
I hope you did not head for the hills when you read foie gras in my headline. There is more than that to the place.
I don't know if La Salle A Manger in Montreal thinks of itself as a Bistro or Wine Bar.
They definitely have the ingredients.
No boring choices in the wine list organized by intensity. It does not separate selections by the glass.
Here are a few of them:
Red
Morgon 2006; Georges Descombes; Gamay 62 / 10.50
La Préceptorie de Centernach; Grenache, Carignan , Syrah 48 / 8.75
Rio Negro 2008; A Lisa, Bodega Noemia; Malbec 64 / 11.00
Bubbly
Crémant d'alsace 2007; Domaine Barmès Beucher; Pinot blanc, Pinot gris, Chardonnay 54 / 9.50
White
Bourgogne 2008; Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot; Chardonnay 58 / 9.75
arbois-pupillin 2007; Les Terrasses, Domaine de la Renardière; Savagnin 63 / 10.75
Rias Baixas 2008; Santiago Ruiz; Albarino, Loureiro, Treixadura, Caino, Godello 58 / 9.75
What about food now that I made you thirsty.
They kick off the menu with 'Raw and Marinated'
Scallop Ceviche with Citrus and Chipotle 14
Venisson Carpaccio, Roasted Garlic Mayo, Padano Cheese 14
Where's the Foie Gras?
They are not dogmatic so there are also vegetarian dishes.
You can even have a real 3 course dinner if you decide to. They have main dishes.
I wonder how many people so far ordered the Roast Suckling Pig for 12.
Maybe you will stick with Cheeses all from Quebec.
I discovered this 'Dining Room' thanks to Bu Sur le Web….
