Here is another wine event that gets my heart beating faster.
A week from today, Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne will turn Burgundy Lovers into shiny happy people.
There's a catch, you need to be part of the wine trade or a media hound to enjoy the festivities.
Anyway, the 10th Edition of the event kicks off on Monday the 23rd with 8 hours of tasting in The Golden Gates of Burgundy, Chablis and Auxerrois.
The thirsty crowd gets whisked off to Marsannay-La-Cote for the Joyaux en Côte de Nuits on March 23.
Also on Tuesday you can try to squeeze in Vosne Millésime – Noblesse des Clos Vougeot in Vougeot.
Tuesday is a bit overwhelming with 2 more options, one is De Chambolle à Morey in Gilly Les Citeaux, the other Nuits d’Antan in Nuits-Saint-Georges of course.
How can anyone manage all that ?
How can one pick between all these great choices?
Wednesday (24th) is another 4 for the day. They are L’Autre Bourgogne for all these wines that don't fit neatly in any category. Quinté “Sens” (no umami) is the 5 villages of Aloxe-Corton, Chorey-lès-Beaune, Ladoix-Serrigny, Pernand-Vergelesses and Savigny-lès-Beaune no less.
Last two on the 24th are Beaune Couleurs Vins, all Beaune, all the time and Symphonie Mâconnaise with music by Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Pouilly-Loché, Mâcon, Saint-Véran, Viré-Clessé.
Many of the attendees by now must be hurting from all that glass lifting.
On Thursday, Au Coeur de la Bourgogne, Cote Chalonnaise in Mercurey has the whole day to itself.
Take 5 on Friday, the bouquet final.
In the balance Terroirs de Corton in Pernan-Vergelesses. You might want to give youth a chance with Salon des Jeunes Talents in Beaune or Pommard rimes with Art. Don't let De l’Élégance de Volnay à la Trinquée de Meursault or the last option Des Maranges au Montrachet en Passant par Santenay and Saint-Aubin fall off your radar.
There's only a tail chance that I will be attending.
It was fun dreaming about it.
