Don't throw tapas back at me thinking I lost my head talking about 'tapas in Alaska'.
The word tapas has been thrown around and applied to many unrelated things in the same way that truffle oil could be spotted in pretty much anything but the bath water.
I don't know what got me thinking about Alaska as a potential bistro land.
Maybe the fact that a state with rugged terrain and wildlife needs cozy places for people to gather.
I found Ludvig's Bistro pretty quickly actually.
This is where for the past 7 years, Colette Nelson shares her taste for 'rustic Mediterranean fare'.
She experienced Spanish cuisine and culture first hand while traveling in Europe and after many other globetrotting stops brought back a slice of Iberian sun to Alaska.
Her Tapas Menu ($16.95) features Spanish cheeses, olives of course and one of my favorites, roasted garlic, plus an ever changing selection.
As for main dishes, I like the idea of pairing her Wild Alaskan Paella with a glass of Albarino from Rias Baixas.
I wish I could have taken a peek at her wine choices. They were not to be found.
Seems like Ludvig's Bistro is opened only 6 months a year, from May to September.
I guess this leaves Colette time to accommodate her wanderlust.
