Summer is served by 50 of Britain's Chefs and Food Writers who shares their favorite recipes in The Guardian (July 3, 2010). Wine pairings by Victoria Moore, the Guardian's wine critic, are also offered .
It starts with a nice Gazpacho by Gordon Ramsay, nourishment that cools you off. What I should have today. I like it diced more than blended.
I do like Skye Gyngell: Spinach, fennel and asparagus salad which was created "for a party given by Tate Modern to celebrate the rehanging of its permanent collections. It was served as a course on its own, but it is also a lovely accompaniment to grilled fish."
Described as citrussy and herbacious, Sistina Pecorino Terre di Chieti 2009, is recommended, inexpensive too. Sounds like an alternative to a Sauvignon Blanc. I will have to try it.
I would also try Vicky Bhogal: Watermelon, feta and garam masala skewers as a refreshing lunch dish. Another white wine, Crios Torrontes 2009 by Susanna Balbo is Victoria's pick for this.
I will have to check Flavour: A World Of Beautiful Food (Hodder & Stoughton), the latest book by Vicky Boghal.
