Rather than focus on a specific region say Ribera del Duero or type of wine like Albarino, Great Match presented by Wines from Spain gives us a chance to taste 130 wines from many of Spain's 74 denominations of origin.
I hope I will learn about the young Arribes del Duero appelation (born in 2007) of which I know little.
Otherwise, I plan on focusing on Albarinos and Verdejos and educate myself on the pleasures of Pedro Ximenez sherry much loved by Jose Pizarro at this Great Match on October 7, 2010 in New York.
This 17th Edition of Great Match will also visit Miami on October 13.
For those of you who want to attend, there is a Consumer Tasting in both cities from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Tapas will be served.
In New York it takes place at Metropolitan Pavillion, RSVP HERE.
Miami tasting is at Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, RSVP HERE.
I am sure I will be surprised, delighted and hopefully awed by a few of the 130 wines on display.
You will find out on Friday.
