Why are some places with passable food, lackluster wine list and drink offerings and shabby digs attracting people while others doing the right thing feel forgotten, this is the thought that crossed my mind after reading the review Restaurant: Hawke & Hunter, Edinburgh (Guardian, October 9) by John Lancaster.
His headline, Well-judged, of-the-moment cooking at a great price. So why's the place empty? says it all.
The place combines boutique hotel, bar, billiard and whisky room and restaurant.
I even like the spirit of Hawke & Hunter website as illustrated above.
There is some mistery and litterary connection to the place as John Lancaster notes that Hawke & Hunter is located on the very street where Sir Conan Doyle was borne.
What would Sherlock Holmes think of the situation?
So if you pass through Edinburgh pay them a visit.
They will be happy to see you.
