I know that after a couple of stops in the U.S, the Vinitaly Day roadshow went to Hong-Kong.
From what Tania Branigan writes in Hong Kong's cup overflows as Chinese get a taste for high-class wines (Guardian, November 16), the wine market there is as hot as real estate.
Is a wine bubble in the making?
She quotes Doug Rumsam, managing director of Bordeaux Index in Hong Kong as stating "This morning I had someone wanting 10 cases of the Lafite 08. I got a call from a client looking for 100 cases of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 2007 [which sells for £3,000 a case]."
Will fakes be far behind?
There might not be enough of these type of wines around to quench that thirst.
