Once in a blue moon, browsing my daily paper, the Financial Times, I find a mention of my hometown, Montclair, New Jersey.
This week-end issue picked current resident Daniel Battsek for its Expat Lives column.
I guess by Yen for a decent banger (free registration required to read) Gordon Miller who wrote the Expat piece meant 'Yearn for…'
It seems that the 2 things Daniel Battsek misses most about the UK are Bangers (the British sausages) and being able to attend Chelsea Football Club' s games.
I agree with most of the article's pros and cons. A few things are missing though.
There are actually 2 movie theaters in town, the Montclair Art Museum is not listed, neither is the Wellmont Theatre, a fairly recent addition, which offers live shows by young bands and veterans alike.
Most glaring omission is the fact that there is no mention at all of the Midtown Direct trains to New York Penn Station while parking and transport issues are listen in the Cons column.
When things run smoothly as it did for me yesterday when I went to the city, it takes 35 minutes from my Bay Street station (one of the 4 serving the town) to NY Penn station.
British expat Daniel Battsek is the former Miramax Films president and now holds the same title at National Geographic Films.
