Is our thinking of what consumer electronics are changing?
The organizers of CES 2011 in Las Vegas seem to think so as they make room on the show floor for many Green Initiatives in their Sustainable Planet Tech Zone sponsore by Earth911.com which lists following areas:
- Advances in green building
- Alternative energy technologies
- Green business services and solutions
- Smart grid technologies
- Solar and renewable products
- Sustainable packaging
- Wireless convergence
More intriguing is the Electric Vehicle Tech Zone…
Do you include Electric Cars in 'Consumer Electronics'?
They are powered by electricity (if they are pure electric vehicles), consumer products definitely, just bigger and more expensive.
Some like TG Daily with the provocative title Is CES causing global warming (January 2, 2011) suggest that large events like CES should become virtual ones.
One thing that virtual events cannot deliver is human, face to face interaction.
Meeting contacts once or twice a year can be positive.
