I will have more than my fill of Italian wines during Vino 2011 (late January).
For those of you who are not as fortunate, if you are in New York between 6 and 8 PM today (January 7) with time on your hands stop by Eataly Vino.
You will be able to sample wines from Feudi di San Gregorio from Irpinia (Campania), 40 km east of Naples.
Indigenous white varieties (not varietals as Jancis Robinson reminded us) include Greco di Tufo, Falanghina and Coda di Volpe, I never tasted this last one.
For reds, Piedirosso and Sirica are not well known like Aglianico and Primitivo.
A prefect tasting if you start 2011 with an open mind, a spirit of discovery.
I doubt Eataly Vino will be pouring all varieties mentioned above, at least 2 or 3 of them I guess.
