It all started on Gourmet Farmer (SBS Food), an attempt by Matthew Evans to reconnect food with where it comes from.
He collaborates on that back to earth project with Nick Haddow who I discovered had a cheese connection which got me interested.
That's how I discovered the Bruny Island Cheese Co. in Southern Tasmania.
I think it will be a long shot for me to find any of Nick's cheeses here in the USA.
Nick informs us that Captain Cook visited Bruny Island, a 100 km island so quite a bit to explore.
Nick moved to Tasmania in 2003 to start his cheese endevour.
Amongst his 10 or so offerings I found a few favorites.
Tom is a version of Tomme de Savoie.
I would especially like to try Lewis (below), a Goat cheese with a rustic rind named after the house goat.
Third, the Bastard made from cow and goat milk left from other cheeses, hence the name.
A world of cheese
