Up to this point none of the selections I had for Cook the Books Contest were Italian flavored so I was delighted when Kyle Books came up with a Taste of Italy Trio for the 4th prize.
First Cook Italy by Katie Caldesi published in 2010. A treasure trove techniques and 400 recipes from all regions.
Read my Interview with Katie if you missed it.
Second helping is The Italian Diet by Gino D'Acampo or why we should eat more like Mediterraneans do.
The Independent introduced it as This is why Italians don't get fat (January 2010).
Last, a classic Italy for the Gourmet Traveler by Fred Plotkin in its revised 2010 edition, the 5th one.
Even though he was born in New York, Italy from opera to history, wine and culinary delights flows in Fred's veins. He knows all the secret gems, authentic places.
How can you try your luck?
Since the theme of World Book Night is all about reading and writing, each participant will send a poem, a haiku, a recipe, some prose related to one of the trios of books, 5 lines maximum.
On Monday, once the dust settles, we will go through all the entries.
The best entry will get first pick, second will pick from remaining four trios and so on for remaining three.
All entries must be submitted by 6 PM on Monday, March 7, 2011 (US Eastern Time).
