After more than 3 years writing Tokyo Thursdays, the earthquake and Tsunami have brought to mind not stories but people there.
I hope that all my contacts in Japan and their families made it though this tragedy unarmed.
The Japanese Culinary Center announced today that all proceeds from its Marvel Comics 5 Ronin and Dassai Sake joint event on March 14 in New York will go to Japan's Earthquake Funds.
5 Ronin is a new mini-series set in feudal Japan
"Marvel editor Sebastian Girner and Talent Scout C.B. Cebulski will both be on hand to discuss this ground-breaking comic collaboration, as well as talk about Marvel's long history with Japan and its culture in their comics. Artist Andy MacDonald will also be in attendance to debut a special "Illustrated Guide to Sake Production",which looks at past and present sake brewing techniques in a unique way… through comic book panels! A tasting of Dassai Sake will be served during the event."
Event seats 30 people and takes place at Japanese Culinary Center from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Tickets are $30 per person.
