During my interview earlier today with Laura Werlin, the author of Grilled Cheese Please (Andrews McMeel), she reminded me that April 1st was not just April Fools Day and a chance for Poisson d'Avril jokes and treats, it also marks the opening salvo of National Grilled Cheese Month.
I did not have the chance to celebrate with a croque-monsieur as I was missing 2 important ingredients, French ham and (my twist on the classic) provolone or asiago cheese pre-sliced from the deli.
My fridge will stay Kraft Singles free if I can help it.
I noticed a bit late via E Star LA that "Friday, April 1st! Tillamook, the Oregonian (not Wisconsinite) cheesemakers, were giving out free grilled cheese sandwiches off the Grilled Cheese Truck for an hour at Beverly Hills Porsche (8425 Wilshire Blvd)". It was only from 11 AM – 12 PM (Pacific Time).
It is part of Tillamook Loaf Love Tour.
Happy Grilled Cheese Month 2011!
