Earlier this week I mentioned Eat Drink Read in San Diego where chefs used books as an inspiration for the dishes they will offer at fundraiser.
Also combining culture and food (isn't food part of culture, people's culture anyway) is Slideluck Potshow, both global and local with events in Barcelona and New York, today, May 14, 2011.
Prior to its Potluck and Slideshow, the 16th Slideluck Potshow NYC kicks off the program with its 2nd annual Beautiful Bountiful Brooklyn Tasting Hour with an accent on local culinary talent and sustainability. ABCD (American Born Confused Desi) will be one of them, vegetarian food, Indian flair.
Theme for the NY Slideshow will be UPHEAVAL:
"From the Middle East to middle America, we are living in a time characterized by great upheaval – in politics, nature, religion, art, climate, food, media, relationships, technology and education. Whether for better or worse, we are looking for work that speaks to the remarkable change that surrounds us."
Only 150 tickets were available for tasting hour and online sales have ended. There might be a few tickets left at the door if you are willing to try your luck.
New York event is a collaboration between New York Photo Festival (May 11-15) and Slideluck Potshow.
16th Slideluck Potshow NYC is at St Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, May 14 from 5:30 to 10:30 PM.
