A couple weeks ago, Laurent Herlin and his Loire Valley wines came to my attention thanks to his Rosé Cintré.
Someone mentioned he also ran a Gite Rural (accommodations in renovated farm buildings or extentions).
In Laurent's case the gite located on his property in Chouze sur Loire (near Bourgueil) accomodates 2 to 3 people (one double bed, one single).
The Gite received the 'Nature and Patrimoine' label for both its 'green' renovation and the respect for the building rustic and historic character.
Gite space is in a corner tower of the farm buildings dating from 1719.
Kitchen is fully equipped including a dish washer.
A washer (for clothes) can be found in bathroom.
Free Internet use and complementary kid and adult bikes as well as a garden dining set and barbecue are included. A complimentary bottle of wine from the property will be your welcome gift.
All that for 350 Euros per week during the peeek summer months of July and August.
Weekly rate for May, June and September is 230 Euros.
Besides all the Loire Valley wine excursions, history buffs will be happy to know that following destinations are close by:
Saumur : 20 km, Chinon : 15 km, Montsoreau : 8 km, Fontevraud-l'Abbaye : 12 km, Villandry : 25 minutes, Langeais : 25 minutes, Azay le Rideau : 30 minutes, Angers : 45 minutes, Chenonceau : 1 h
Port-Boulet train station is 3 Km from the gite.
There is a small fee for sheets and cleaning if not done by residents.
Weekly stays start early Saturday afternoon and run until 10 AM on following Saturday.
The Laurent Herlin site is in French only but Laurent does speak English.
Power outage on Tuesday is cause for this belated Green Day # 179
