Called by some the gateway to Nuits St Georges, Marsannay is the most recent Burgundy AOC.
It is also the only village appellation to come in all 3 colors, Red, White, Rosé.
Rosés are made with Pinot Noir grapes and offer a fine balance of fruit and acidity.
Traditional pairings could be frogs legs.
More adventurous minds will throw caution to the wind and enjoy it with Mediterranean fare or spicy foods.
I tasted a Marsannay Red and a White from Chateau de Marsannay (both 2009) at Terroir & Signature de Bourgogne 2011 tasting (March 16) but no Rosé.
Many in the U.S including John of Wine Culture Project seem to favor Domaine Collotte, Marsannay Rosé…
Another wine to try this Spring and Summer.
