Shame on me, it's already July 18 in this summer 2011 season and I have not shared my tasting impressions on any Rosé.
I did mention Corsican Rose Wine 'Abbatucci' Faustine Reaches the American Shores (June 27) but I have not tasted it yet.
Since I had to skip Vinexpo, I did not have the chance to meet the Vidal-Fleury team.
A few days ago, a sample of their latest vintage was delivered to my door.
I was more than pleased with the 2010 Vidal Fleury Cotes du Rhone Rosé. I don't care much for wimpy rosés and this one is bright and lively.
It was dry enough to stand up to a dish of ground beef with eggplant, squash, tomato and onions seasoned with korma curry sauce which I will tell you more about later.
A blend of 50% Cinsault, 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache, it will retail around $14.
Put on your espadrilles, pop open a bottle, relax and enjoy the day.
I will have to try their Tavel to see how it compares.
