I attended a conference in Copenhagen last summer and was unable to connect my HTC Inspire 4G to WiFi network at event.
While there, I called ATT Wireless for technical support and did not get any help.
Since I did not want to be billed for roaming charges, I put my phone on Airplane mode.
It might have been my first mistake.
An HTC users forum suggests the way to use HTC Inspire 4G in WiFi settings is to 'uncheck' mobile networks in settings for wireless networks while making sure that WiFi is checked.
Will it allow me to receive e-mails and text messages without roaming charges?
Whether it is the best approach, i cannot tell for sure.
I am not concerned with phone calls as during my 2 weeks stay, I will use either Google Voice or Skype on my laptop.
At least I already have the power adapter and i know it works for my phone, laptop and electric shaver.
Hopefully I will get a clear practical answer from either HTC or ATT Wireless before my departure.
Alternative could be taking Google Nexus 7 for the trip?
