Tim Atkin in Winning wines for a World Cup knockout (Times Online, June 10) does not list first and foremost his favorite wines.
In a different exercise, he shares 7 wines from 7 nations he must consider most favorite to win out of the 32 teams.
The least considered wine producer of all as I wrote earlier is Brazil.
The Brazilian pick by Tim Atkin is:
"2006 Miolo Millésime Brut Vale dos Vinhedos (£11.40, 12.5 per cent, Coe Vintners in the UK) This is the best sparkler I’ve had from South America: fine bubbles and toasty character."
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay
The other odd man of wine producing countries septet has to be England,Tim chooses another bubbly.
"2007 Ridgeview Cavendish (£19.99, or £15.99 by the case, 12
per cent, Oddbins, UK) Inexpensive for an English fizz, this pinot
meunier-dominated blend is crisp and refreshing."
per cent, Oddbins, UK) Inexpensive for an English fizz, this pinot
meunier-dominated blend is crisp and refreshing."
25% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Noir and 41% Pinot Meunier.
What will you drink if the final is between these 2, Brazil and England?
