For many people in the US, Peugeot might be a distant memory.
They seems to be in pole position though as far as pure electric cars are concerned.
Their green line will be showcased during COP 15, the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (Dec 7-Dec 18).
Will it include the Peugeot iOn "Zero Emissions" pictured below?
For urban dwellers in need of a lighter commuting solution, browsing the company's News page, I found out that Peugeot was also a pioneer in the electric scooter field. They came out with a first model in 1996…
If you don't feel like pedaling to work but want to reduce your carbon footprint, you can still become a planet savior with Peugeot 'Eco-Citizen' Electric Scooter (picture below, follow link for technical details).
As far as energy efficiency, here is what the press kit tells us:
is the remarkably low cost of use: from €4 for 100km with a petrol scooter,
to. only €0.4 and costs divided by 10. With an average annual distance of
4,000 kms for a 50 cm3, E-Vivacity would only cost €16 in energy to cover
a whole year's trips, at zero C02 emissions!
The additional cost linked to the batteries could be offset by the possibility
of leasing these energy storage elements by the month with a battery rental
price that does not exceed that of a full tank of fuel."
Parking should be less of a hassle. You still need to feed the meter.
I personally like the 'eco-citizen' tag better than the 'E-Vivacity' they went for (sounds a bit cold to me).
