Thinks of it as a cross between Marche aux Puces, Design Promo and Gallery Event.
At least that is my first impression of the Puces du Design whose 21th Edition opens October 8, 2009 in Paris.
Call it 20th Century Design for the People even though the pieces curated (as in a museum or gallery exhibit) by La Corbeille cover 4 decades only, from the 50's to the 80's.
For the People because contrary to many salons and shows of that type entry is Free of Charge which gives the public at large a chance to sample pieces from famous creators and obscure ones brought to the event by some 90 exhibitors.
It is not just a French affair as a quarter of the exhibitors are German, English, Belgian, Spanish, Dutchman, Welsh, Swiss and American.
Of course collectors will also be there, looking for that trophy bit that was missing in their treasure trove.
Want an off the beaten path to visit, follow the Seine, come by boat to the exhibit via Canauxrama from La Bastille.
Got wind of this show thanks to The Paris Blog.
