I started with something else in mind but while doing my legwork for today's Green Day discovered SOS Velo (French site only) in Montreal.
They call themselves a 'factory without profit', giving used bicycles a second life by putting every single piece that works a place on their Eco Velos designs which are made from 70% recycled parts and 30% new ones.
Each year brings Eco-Velos with a new design and color theme.
For the few bits that are not fit for their original use, they get get turned into gadgets like the clock below and objets d'art.
Besides their recycling activities, they are also a social enterprise as part of their staff is made of people
in need of job training or reinsertion into the workforce.
Good combination of creativity, eco-friendliness and social good.
They are also a bike repair shop.
