Tis' the season for Asparagus and Asparagus festivals are sprouting out of the ground, here, there and everywhere.
The 2009 British Asparagus Festival in the Vale of Evesham (Worcestershire) kicks off bright and early at 8:00 am on April 23 (St Georges Day). The event runs until June 21.
The Asparagus Man (below) will be there.
The people of Michigan seem to have a fondness for our green friend.
The 6th Annual Empire Asparagus Festival near Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore proves it.
Running from May 15 to 17, events include a 5K Kick Ass-paragus Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m on the 15.
Local eateries offer their own recipes such as Asparagus and Morel Risotto by La Becasse, Deep Fried Asparagus in Beer Batter at Arts Tavern and the uncommon Asparagus Croissants and Asparagus Scones at Gemmas Coffee Shop & Baked Goods (pictured below) which also has (free ?) wifi.
In California, Amtrak gets you to the Stockton Asparagus Festival (April 24-26) with its San Joaquin trains and Free Bus Shuttle. Kids travel at half price.
