Events come in all shapes and forms. As the G20 Summit just took place, London is getting ready for a less frantic happening, Slow Down London (April 24 to May 4, 2009).
I should have know that Carl Honore, author of In Praise of Slowness was one of the culprits behind this endeavor.
Going back to the event, its 'slogan' is 'living life in real time'.
They launch on April 24 with The Big Slow Walk across Waterloo Bridge (on the pavement!) at rush hour on the first day of the festival. The walk leaves from Embankment Gardens (east end) and it is suggested you wear while or blue.
In a different area, The Art of Calm will offer (I hope) soothing pieces at the Skylark Galleries.
Like unusual travel, Three Men in a Float will look at how Dan Kieran, Ian Vince and Prasanth Visweswaran embarked on an unconventional 680-mile road trip across the UK. Their mode of transport? A 1958 electric milkfloat. They reported on their adventure in the book pictured below.
This event takes place at The Gallery, Foyles Charing Cross Road on Tuesday 28 April 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Stop the madness, hit the pause button and breathe!
Note that in our Consumed to Thrifty times many of the events are Free.
