Of all the New Jersey toll roads, one that I use pretty much daily is the aptly named Garden State Parkway.
Since January of 2009 hey raised the 35cents toll to 50 and the 70c to 1 Dollar.
Problem is some tolls have no attendants and you cannot use dollar bills.
I guess they assumed you either have the EZ Pass or carry a wad of quarters with you.
Would it not make sense if prior to raising the fees they equipped the unattended toll booths with machines taking dollar bills and giving change?
Worse even today, I passed through an attended toll, paid my dollar fee with a bill and then requested a dollar in change from the attendant.
I was out of luck, the person's answer was: I just started my shift, I have no change.
Kafkaesque or Ubuesque, Mr.Jarry?
