The UN gets its message across in many ways including Cartooning for Peace.
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights they offer in collaboration with the Forney Library in Paris an exhibit titled Permis de Croquer.
It showcases "250 works by 28 press cartoonists including Plantu (France), Kroll (Belgium),
Jeff Danzinger (USA), Boukhari (Palestine) Xia Lichuan (China) and
No-Rio (Japan). The daily subjects of their political caricatures never
lack good humor even though these include issues such as terrorism, the
conflict in Iraq, the question of Palestine, environment and women's
rights."
It takes place at the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris, 22 rue Mahler, 75004
Paris until March, 8 2009 and is open everyday except Mondays from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm.
Full Price: 4 euros / Reduced Rate (I guess for seniors and kids) : 2 euros
The video presentation of Permis de Croquer by Plantu (on Daily Motion) might interest those of you who are fluent in French otherwise enjoy the images.
I found my way to this event thanks to the Paris Edition of Moleskinecity.
