Rather than lavish attention on a single topic, I decided to showcase KIE Magazine which recently published its Spring Issue.
They cover Japanese art and culture.
The pieces that interested me most in this new issue are Isakaya Aficionado and The World of Tradition and Craftmanship.
I already explored craftmanship in Japan on a number of occasions in Tokyo Thursdays.
As for Isakaya (Izakaya?), this Japanese drinking house with roots going back to the Edo period is now experiencing a new lease on life with younger customers eager to taste various sakes and enjoy the food served in these establishments.
Unfortunately, KIE Magazine full articles are only available to subscribers.
In the Japan Times, Yoichi Kosukegawa offers that ‘Izakaya’ are more than just plain pubs and goes to explain why.
That’s it for Tokyo Thursdays #32
